Short of swinging a sledge hammer to knock down the awkward-as-heck fireplace, we needed to find a corner stand for our 55" (48" wide) TV. None of the official corner TV stands would work because of the odd way the stone fireplace sticks out. Trust me, we did the math: the TV would have had an overhang on each side of the stand by about 3 inches. Not the end of the world, but odd and not as aesthetically pleasing. But this bench – multipurposed for a TV stand – works perfectly. My daughter and I assembled it in about 10 minutes. We wedged it against the corner and it is quite sturdy. We'll fix the wires later. The lower shelf is great for the cable box and gaming essentials.
Update: We liked it so much we bought a second one – this one we'll actually use as a bench 🙂
Oh, and we haven't fixed the wires yet…
